POET : Tunay

Hi there, my name's Tunay I'm a spoken word artist

I have been in a music video and was part of a poetry book that was signed by the mayor of Hackney when I was 16 In 2010.

I have been writing poetry since I was 14 years old at a school called inspire EBP . I was kicked out of my original school due to bad behavior and this made learning more enjoyable for me as they taught us how to learn English , Science and even Maths through poetry and music .

Many years later I began to perform at college , I've one took part international talent shows competing against poets , singers and rappers from all over the world and I've had three headliner show this year plus a few feature shows .

My main incentive going forward is to experiment with music as I believe it compliments my poems well and hopefully to grow as a performer so I can develop and be more consistent

POEM : My Phone

This phone here is my darkest of thoughts, It captures my memories.
My life is a puzzle as it's become the centerpiece
I feel lost, no GPS gets me to where I meant to be
Feels like I'm on the outside looking in as it tears me apart mentally
Social anxiety got me trying to hide from society
So my phones become a crutch making me into who i would like to be

Cuz a couple likes on IG don't take away what I see

Always desperate for approval but why does nobody like me
Maybe If I was accepted then this l could've been prevented
My mind is my prison and this phone is the gateway to the entrance
Built up rage from being an outcast has me seeking repentance
But I'll keep serving my sentence Cuz I don't believe in vengeance

Now time has become my enemy as I'm racing against the clock

I wish I lived in the moment but I always never seem to stop
This phone was my drug I was addicted to the buzz
Just tell me what's the point in living if you're living in disgust.
